Hello all, Just found this forum and really like all the useful information here.. Can someone tell me the best wax to use on my Sea Pro 2100's hull? Everything I've used in the past seems to wash off after just one or two trips in the saltwater.

Love the user name notworthy, No expert on wax but I'm trying some auto Turtle wax right now. It's survived two trips out so far. Interested to see what others use also.

Wash and wax man here. My boat gets a coat annually whether it needs it or not.
Welcome to the forum.

I did a little test a year or so ago, and Nu finish was slightly better on UV and a whole lot easier to apply and take off vs carranuba and turtle wax....

I've heard of Nu finish, might try that. I got some One Step from our detail supply guy and tried it on a jet ski, came out pretty good but a lot of effort. I don't know how the Turtlwax will holp up it's just what I had laying around, never waxed the old boat and it looked like crap. Plan to take more care of this one.

Thanks for the welcomes and the replies...I too was thinking NuFinish since that is what I use on my vehicles and it's really easy to use compared to everything else I've tried... I just didn't know if it would hold up under saltwater.

I usually do a cleaner wax (3m) every spring and another polish midway through the summer. I'm gonna try the meguiars spray on the year as well. I've heard a lot of good things about it as an extra layer of protection that is super easy to apply.

After that boat shines like a brand new penny. Not sure I want my boat shining like a brand new penny!

Freezer nothing is perfect nor necessarily lasts, especially in a harsh saltwater environment but I like what you said about the ease of application being most attractive part. I have found through trial and error no matter how good a wax you use, salt just sticks to everything and is a fine abrasive if it is allowed to dry. I try and hose down the boat after every saltwater or brackish water excursion just to keep salt crystals from forming. If you do that after every saltwater trip the wax will perform a lot longer, no matter what you use. You'll never get the salt off (meaning all the salt) off with just water. If you have some time run to the store and get salt away with a sprayer nozzle that auto mixes other fluids. I added a link for the nozzle and the salt away below. Once its in the water for the season ill wash the boat every week or two with the brush and boat soap (ill use some bleach on the deck too). Any other time i connect the nozzle with the salt away to the hose and spray the entire boat down with it. Works like a charm and gets all the salt off (can tell by the black merc motor, no spots after a spray). If your putting the boat in salt water its well worth the investment in time to get these two. SC it won't help the bottom though, only thing that will ell that is bottom paint. www.westmarine.com/buy/hosecoil--pro-series-suds-blaster--6885354www.westmarine.com/buy/salt-away--salt-away-concentrate-refills--P006_186_005_504

I to have used meguiars products on my old trophy oxidize remover, finish restorer, wax and about 40 hours work it turned out pretty good. Just bought a can of collinite paste wax to put on the 235 wa thought it might be worth the extra effort? I'll let you know if this product is everything it's supposed to be.

The Collonite stuff is great as well. Ill use it when someone asks me to do their boat and its far gone because some of their product has abrasives in them so when i use my machine (and cutting pads) and I can cut (treat) the paint/gelcoat and get most of the oxidation/scratches out. I brought my buddies blue hull back to life with some of their stuff (fyi their disclaimers tell you not to use on colored hulls because if you only use applicator pad in hand you will scratch up the paint).

Follow up on the Collinite 885 paste wax. I find it just as easy to use as the liquid brands and it's doing a great job visibly better than the Meguiars and 3M products I've used in the past. Since I just bought this boat a couple months ago I don't know when it was last waxed? Although I'm using some Meguiars oxidation remover it's the only brand readily available here, the project is coming along nicely. I've hardly put a dent in the 12 oz. can so it's going to last me 3-4 years on my 235wa. I bought mine off Ebay for 18.00 including shipping.
