I guess what I was saying is check the start wire for 12v at the solenoid. If it's getting 12v with the key in starting position, its your solenoid. if not its either the ignition switch or the nss or a short.

I just replaced the solenoid about a month ago. So that should be good.

So i did some work on the boat this morning. And got it all figured out. I tested for continuity and all the wires from the neutral switch, ignition key switch, MWS wiring to engine to battery cables and all tested positive. What did test bad was my solenoid. I put the old solenoid back on and she fired right up with the key. I replaced it to begin with thinking it was bad when it was just in need of a new battery!!! So my bad on that one. But taking this back and see if they will replace it or get money back. Also tested the tach again after setting the portable one back to default setting and it is good as well. Feeling a little better about my Johnson now. Hope to put it in the water tomorrow to figure out other problem...

Good work! Hope they replace the "new" solenoid, they can get picky when it come to electrical parts.

Yeah I took the solenoid back. It didn't help that I didn't have my receipt. But I told him all he had to do was look it up in his system under my phone number. Then he was quizzing me about how I know it was bad. I told him I tested it for continuity and what my results were. I told him to test it himself if he didn't believe me. Then he said I don't know how to test it. Finally he gave in and gave me my money back. And I bought it on June 6th. I told him it should have lasted longer than that. I did want another to keep as a spare but he just gave me money back. So I will buy another one with the money

Well I put the new prop on yesterday and took it out for a trial run. And she ran good without any problems. So I guess my prop did have a spun hub! Time to do some fishing this weekend...

Well i got all the paint off my transom and the spot for my stern Saver all scuffed up and ready for install. The install went smooth and will be putting it to the test this weekend. You will notice 4 screw holes already in the transom from previous owner!!! i filled those with epoxy then installed the stern saver. Here i have the epoxy in hot water to let it flow easier. Here i have the stern saver all filled with epoxy and ready for install! Installed and using tape to hold in place till she dries up!

Well i got my boat in my garage. And boy is it a tight fit!!! But it is in there and getting ready to get started doing some rewiring and then put the Tohatsu engine on. Here are a few photos of what i have going on! Talk about a tight fit!!!! I then proceeded to take everything off my console so i could wet sand it and have better access for the wiring. I plan to fiberglass some pvc board in the console for my wiring and 2 pieces to the floor for the battery hold down's. I am also going to repaint the dash aluminum panel.

Serious stains from the railing around the console! After a real quick wet sanding of 800 grit. Still more wet sanding to go.... Talk about a rats nest for wiring!!!!

That stamp only means your dash aluminum panel was made in Nov 2000. The hull ID on the stern will give the actual date of manufacture of the boat itself.

Well i got the top of the console all wet sanded down (800, 1200, 1500 and 2000 grit) and gave it a coat of polish and wax! Looking better already.. I started to pull the wires from the Johnson outboard and from my old Garmin that i am replacing as well. I was wondering why i had a hard time running new cables to the console from the stern thru the wire trough!! Look at this rats nest. This bunch of wires must be about 20 feet long. All the wires that go forward and aft. It was all bunched up in the pvc pipe. Once i pulled all the excess out it was easy to pull wires thru it. They must have had a one size fits all wire harness for all the boats!! I will cut it down to size and re splice all the connections.
