As has been mentioned in other threads. I am repowering with a Suzuki DF200A. They are hanging it on the Sea Pro as we speak (well type). I'm optimistic that I'll not only save $0.50/gal on fuel now that I won't have to add oil to it, but I should see some pretty good fuel economy as well as enjoy a quieter ride. I'm going to pick it up Saturday and once I get it broken in, I'll report some numbers. Old numbers with the Johnson 150 were pretty poor so It shouldn't be much of a challenge to better it. Hopefully that storm brewing out in the Gulf will hold out for after the weekend.

Looking forward to those numbers, I think it's time for a Suzuki page rather than "Other Marine Engines".

I'm hoping I get better than 3mpg. This guy claims to get 4 on his boat at 30 mph. He says in the comments real world 3.4-3.7
I know it's going to kill me to get past that break in period!!!

Sweet, I know you can't wait. That should be like a brand new boat. The one thing I have been wondering about is ...do they use the old gauges from the other boat or do you get those new ones that are incorporated into one gauge (digital), and if so I would imagine you would get a whole new console were the old ones were ..right? Let me say that those Suzuki's seem really nice.

I did get the digital gauge. I picked up the fuel management and speed sensor, but I'm not sure what all it will tell me. I hope to end up with just the digital gauge on the dash if possible.

The only way that thing would look better is if it were on my boat! I think you're going to be amazed at the performance and economy.. Weather is looking a little iffy for the weekend and there's a 60% chance of rain on Sunday so be careful out there.

If the weather up that way is anything like it is down here, then any kind of weather report is nothing more than a suggestion...or at least a wild guess. Heck I have been standing in my driveway when it has been pouring rain right across the street..hahaha

Yeah, the weather is going to limit me to Saturday only. I pick her up at 7:30. Can't wait.

I sent him the numbers where I caught em last week so if they're still there, he should have a limit in no time. The rain hit here but according to the radar, it's clear where he is so maybe he'll get to give that new motor a work out.

Ok, I'm back. First the good news. It's very nice. Starts perfect, really have to listen for it at idle. First time I hit a no wake, I thought it conked out and almost turned the key before I realized it was still running. I got everywhere from 8mpg at idle, 3.4 mpg at 30 mph, 3.7 mpg at 20 mph. Hole shot was great, and I love the sea star hydraulic steering. Now the bad news- Top speed was only 39 mph which is pretty much what I was getting with the old 150.. I thought the motor might be a hole too low, but the guy who did it felt is was correct, and swapped out the 19 pitch prop for a 21. It monsooned at that time, so I opted to take it home and try it out on the local lake hopefully later today. If it doesn't do better, we'll play UPS. We did catch plenty of trout and some spanish. It was hot and let the kids swim at the redneck yacht club sandbar to cool off. I didn't get to try Juans spot as there was a really nasty looking stormcloud in that direction.

Very cool!! I'm glad it worked out for you with the motor and the fish too..I'm sure with a little tweaking you will have it right where you want it..Something I've been wondering about is the console.Did you put a new one in or somehow cover the holes from the old gauges?....Pictures, we want to see some pics...hahaha

Yeah, pictures would be nice but they will only make me jealous. I don't know anything about a 210 CC but 39 mph does seem a bit low and a 21 pitch prop seems high to me, probably because I run a 15 on my F150. How many rpms were you turning at 39?

OK, I just got back from the lake with some new numbers. Remember Suzuki's have a 2.5 gear ratio, so the rpm numbers might be a little different from what you are used to. The slip was around 12 on the 19p prop. It's worse with the 21p prop until it approaches wot, but the numbers are better in every way.
Idle .37 gph 2.9 mph = 7.8 mpg 20 mph 4.8 gph 3550 rpm = 4.2 mpg 25 mph 5.57 gph 3938 rpm = 4.5 mpg 30 mph 7.69 gph 4500 rpm = 3.9 mpg 40 mph 14.42gph 5750 rpm = 2.77 mpg 43.3 wot 18.7 gph 6156 rpm = 2.3 mpg

I went over the numbers with the guy who sold it to me, and he thinks I'm close but there might be a little room for improvement. He's sending me a slightly larger prop to test. I'll report when I get it. I finally was able to get the only pic I took of it off my phone... Attachment Deleted

Prop didn't make it today, hopefully Monday. I spent the day cleaning the Sea Pro and fixing a few electrical gremlins that occurred during the motor swap. One thing I miss about the ol Johnson was the built in trailering bracket. Apparently Suzuki recommends a "transom saver" for trailering. I've already got a 2X10 back there for starters, I'll post a pic and get your thoughts on it for trailering.
