You might be right about on the on the trailer part, mine won't fill properly on the trailer ( a bit better now I've adjusted the trailer)in fact we were about 10 gallons short compared to filling at the marina. I suspect you are right. There is a way to calibrate it, but I think I'll fill up a few times under the same conditions before I mess with anything. I'd rather be off with fuel in the tank.

Yep best to be on safe side, best way is to fill it at the pump then top it off in the water and go off that total amount. These new gauges are supposed to be pretty accurate. I've just got a Yamaha fuel management gauge on mine and I'm chuffed to see 3.2 mpg at cruise and 2.6 WOT , it may be lying but it looks good LOL.

There's a spot for you blue/grey motor guys to boast about your engines... seaproforum.proboards.com/board/15/yamaha-outboardsI have to muddle here with "the others"

My DF200A is a gas hog. I was only getting 4-5mpg when doing 20-30 in the gulf this weekend. I only got 4 days of scalloping in and had to buy 31 gallons of gas, ridiculous!

Awesome, now I feel like a first class citizen!! Those are great numbers James! I'm going to have to give scalloping a try one of these days.

I hit my 20 hr service alarm over the weekend. Changed the oil, filter, and gear oil (although it was spotless). It looks like I'm good to go for 100 more hours now.

Man you slammed some hours on there pretty quick. I may run 20 hours in year. Hours and time are a big difference with at least motor oil for me. I change my oil once a year, and hopefully before winter whether I need to or not. Gear oil maybe every other year. Sounds like you are getting some great use. I had some help. The dealer put the first 7 hours on there so I wouldn't screw up the mundane part of the break-in. By the time I got it, I could run as far as WOT but for short periods only. I will say it's a lot easier to put hours on a boat when you're not constantly putting fuel in her.

OK, well it's time for a little update. First let me apologize to Cross for not seeing his question from a year ago. I'll check and let you know. Now for the update.. I backed down to a 20p prop to get better holeshot and didn't lose any efficiency, but did lose 2 mph on top end. Since WOT is not my typical thing, and pulling skiers and tubers is more common, I stuck with it. Fast forward to today. In preparation for a week of vacation on the Alabama coast, I felt like a spare prop would be of interest. So I snagged a 4 blade 15.25 X 20p Suzuki off of ebay for $200. I figured it was a slight gamble, but it could turn out to be better than what I have, or it could suck. But nothing sucks worse than having a busted prop on vacation, so if it doesn't, no problem, at least I have a spare. I'll try to write down some numbers in case it helps someone down the road.

That's a good price for a 4 blade. Hope it works out. At a minimum it should give you a great hole shot. Have you gotten it yet? You're braver than I am. I've been wanting to go from a 15" pitch to a 17" since I can turn a bit over max rpms with the 15" and I'm thinking the 17" would not only drop the rpms but also add a couple of mph to the top end but I've been burned a few times on ebay so I've been searching Craigslist for one that I can put my hands on before I pay for it.

Yeah, I only did it for the price, but they had good feedback so I went for it. A new one would cost around $500. We'll see. I had it shipped to my brothers house so it would get there by Friday. We'll play with numbers while we wait for check in at the rental house. Weather permitting.

Juan, Do you have a prop shop somewhere local? if so have them add a little cup to the 15, should only cost $60 or so and might just make the difference you need. Freezer, looking forward to your results, I've been eyeing a 4 blade myself. I'm thinking you'll lose some speed and rpm with the increased blade area but hole shot and cruise might be better.

Thanks, That's a great idea since I really want to go from 15 to 16 but haven't found any 14 1/2 by 16" props to fit.

OK Cross, it is mounted in the third hole which is the middle of the 5 holes available. Phil, I'm hoping I don't lose anything. The drop in diameter should keep my rpms in check, and from what I've researched, most people drop down 2 in pitch to get the same results. Again, the main purpose was to have a spare, but it would be cool if it turned out to be better!

I'm hoping you'll like the extra stern lift it might give you, it might just feel like a different boat.

Well I have plenty to report, but not tonight. Today is the day I snapped both mooring lines, tore my engine to hell and chipped the hull and beached her. At least I wasn't in it. At least I finally got my money back from sea tow... I'll post pics tomorrow.
